FOUND
Artists have always been drawn to found objects, collecting a wide range of things that pop up on the shore, in skips and all sorts of places. Many artists are then inspired to make interventions; to work with and on this found material. The artists in this exhibition have all had this ongoing relationship with the found and this exhibition brings together a selection of their outcomes.
August 13 – September 10
Annie Goulding
Weavings and Photographs
This exhibition celebrates the work of Allihies resident Annie Goulding. Before moving to Allihies Annie worked as a photographer for Image Magazine in Dublin. On taking up residence here, for a number of years she built up a significant collection of black and white photographs recording life around her in her new environs. This exhibition brings together a selection of these images newly printed from the original negatives.
All this time weaving has been an ongoing pursuit of Annie’s and along with the photographs we are showing a selection of weavings which range from simple abstract colour explorations to weavings based on the spectacular sea views she constantly experiences from her converted schoolhouse home.
